Vendayakeerai is called as fenugreek leaves in English and methi in Hindi. This leaves has a strong aroma and bitter taste and adds good flavour even when added in small amount to the dishes and curries.they show up vital health benefits mainly for women inducing easy child birth,breast milk production,ease out general women health,breast enlargement, aids digestion,reduces cholesterol and many more.





Ingredient :

Methi leaves- 1 bunch
Red chillies -3
Shallots -5
Mustard -1/4 tsp
Channa dal -1/4 tsp
Split Urad dal -1/4 tsp
Chilli powder -1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder -1 pinch
Oil -2 tbsp
Grated coconut -2 tbsp
Salt as required




Method:
  1. Take out the leaves from the bunch and wash cleanly with water as many times for removal of mud/sand.
  2. Drain the water completely and finely chop the methi leaves.
  3. Heat oil and add mustard, let it splutter. Add channa dal, urad dal and fry golden brown.
  4. Now add chopped shallots,chillies and saute for while.
  5. Now put the chopped methi/fenugreek/vendhaya keerai, turmeric powder and salt. Cover the lid and cook for about 2 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle about 1/4 glass of water and cook in medium flame until the leaves becomes soft.
  7. Finally add grated coconut, saute for about a minute and transfer to serving bowl.

Note :
  • Do not fry more the greens to prevent from losing of nutrients. So always take care to cook with its green color.
  • Adding coconut reduces the bitterness but its optional.
