Potatoes are considered to be one of the most comfortable foods for all age groups. From kids to elders potato lovers are many.. Potatoes can be stored for longer days without getting spoiled. So we would always  try out some new recipes of side dishes, snacks, curries with potato. Here I have posted a simple method of Potato fry in chettinad style and only thing required is you should prepare and store curry masal powder in small box which you use sprinkle some while making fries. Posted here is an instant recipe with mild and pleasant aroma

Potato – 3
Onion – 1
Green chillies -2
Curry leaves -few
Tomato – 1
Turmeric powder -2 pinches
Oil -2 tbsp
Salt as required (little while cooking potatoes & sprinkle few with onion)

 1. Wash and boil the potatoes along with 2 pinches of salt in pressure cooker for 2-3 whistles.
 2. Once pressure is down, peel off the skin and chop in medium cube size pieces.

3. Heat oil in a pan, Add slitted green chillies and saute.

4. Add thin sliced onions, curry leaves and fry until slight brown.
 5. Now add in the finely chopped tomatoes and keep frying in low flame.
 6. Now add the curry masal powder, and saute well
 7. Now add in the chopped potatoes, Turmeric powder and sprinkle little salt and mix well.
 8. Cook in medium flame until the masala gets blended evenly.
9. Transfer to a serving bowl and serve hot with Rasam Saadham, Lemon rice, Roti/Phulka of your choice.
Potato Fry

  • Curry masal powder is different from garam masala, because they do not contain much aroma of spices,instead they are blended with dal,coriander,pepper,spices,chillies and curry leaves.
  • If you do not have time to prepare this replace with garam masala but the taste differs completely.
  • If you would like to have a gravy form, add additional, onion, tomato and curry masal powder.
  • This dry potatoes can be eaten just like that.
  • Take care while separating and adding the salt.
