Tiranga Pulao

Tiranga Pulao – Pulao is one of the most favorite dish across India, it is a must served on a weekend lunchtime menu. It  is the perfect dish to prepare at home and celebrate the day’s spirit with your loved ones. This Republic day special menu is made by Chef Jitender from Lord of the Drinks Barrel

Ingredients of Tiranga Pulao

Trianga Pulao Delicious recipe
For orange rice:

  • 1 cup of Basmati rice, blanched
  • 2 Tbsp Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1/4 cup of Tomato puree
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • Red chilli paste
  • A pinch of salt

For white rice:

  • 1 cup of Basmati rice, cooked properly

For green rice:

  • 2 Tbsp Ghee
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Green chilli paste
  • 1/2 cup of Spinach puree
  • A pinch of salt

Steps to make Tiranga Pulao

  1. Firstly, heat 2 tbsps of ghee in two different nonstick pans. Add cumin seeds to one pan
    saute till seeds begin to change the color
  2. Add rice and mix. Add cumin seed to second pan and sauté till they start to change color.
  3. Now add ginger paste, red chili powder and red chili paste to the first pan and sauté.
  4. Add tomato puree to the pan along with salt and mix well. Then add a cup of water and mix again, cover and cook till the rice is done.
  5. Now add turmeric powder and rice to the second pan and mix well. Add green chili paste, ginger paste, salt and sauté gently.
  6. Add 1/2 cup of water and mix well. Cover and cook. When the water starts boiling, add spinach puree, stir and mix well, cover and cook again till the rice is done.
  7. Place a ring mold in the serving plate. Put the green rice in the mold and press gently.
  8. Add white rice and press gently. Put on top of it with the orange rice and press gently.
  9. Remove the ring mold slowly and carefully.

Now The Tiranga Pulao is ready. Serve it hot.
Notes

  • Serve Tiranga Pulao with yogurt if you like it to.
